Description & Learning objectives

This course has been developed to help carers provide quality outcomes for children and young people with ADHD. The course will give carers the opportunity to understand the signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options for ADHD. It will also explore and consider support strategies, partnership working and ways of supporting and empowering themselves to enable the best outcomes for the children and young people in their care.

The learning outcomes of this course are as follows: 

  • To gain an understanding of what ADHD is
  • To recognise diagnosis and treatment options
  • To have a better understanding of triggers and behaviours
  • To discuss how ADHD can impact a child’s relationships with siblings, parents/carers, and outsiders
  • To explore how to parent and support children with ADHD

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
